Accessibility Statement
RPHGMCH Website Accessibility.
Our Commitment to Accessibility
This website conforms to WCAG 2.1 Level AA and GIGW (Guidelines for Indian Government Websites) standards.
Keyboard Navigation
All interactive elements — links, buttons, form fields, and navigation — are fully accessible using keyboard alone. Tab order is logical and predictable. A visible focus indicator is present on all focusable elements via the :focus-visible CSS selector.
Screen Reader Support
The website is compatible with popular screen readers (NVDA, JAWS, VoiceOver). ARIA landmark roles, labels, and live regions are used throughout. All non-text content has appropriate alternative text or ARIA descriptions.
Text Resize (A+ / A / A−)
A text resizer is provided in the utility bar allowing users to increase or decrease font size. The layout adapts fluidly to text size changes without loss of functionality or content overlap. The site also respects browser-level font size preferences.
Colour Contrast
All text and background colour combinations meet the WCAG 2.1 AA minimum contrast ratio of 4.5:1 for normal text and 3:1 for large text. Colour is not the sole means of conveying information.
Alternative Text & Descriptions
All meaningful images have descriptive alt text. Decorative images use aria-hidden="true" to be skipped by screen readers. Documents linked from this website that are in PDF format will include accessible tagged PDFs in the production build.
A "Skip to main content" link is the first focusable element on every page, allowing keyboard and screen reader users to bypass repetitive navigation and reach the main content area directly.
ARIA Labels & Roles
Navigation landmarks (nav, main, header, footer) are used semantically. ARIA labels distinguish between multiple navigation regions (primary navigation, breadcrumb, footer links). Only one <main> and one <h1> appear per page.
Reduced Motion
All animations — ticker scrolling, carousel autoplay, counter animation, and transitions — are disabled when the user has enabled prefers-reduced-motion in their operating system settings. This is handled at the CSS and JavaScript level from initial page load.
Known Limitations & Feedback
We strive for full accessibility. Known limitations are tracked and addressed in each release cycle.
Compliance Level
This website partially conforms to WCAG 2.1 Level AA. The main areas where full conformance has not yet been achieved are third-party embedded content (to be addressed in the production build) and legacy PDF documents (will be re-issued with accessibility tags).
WCAG 2.1 Level AA — Partial Conformance (Demo Build)Last Reviewed
