A Warm Welcome to RPHGMCH

Welcome to our website. Being Principal of Rampurhat Government Medical College & Hospital, it gives me immense pleasure to introduce the institute to you. At the outset I would like to thank you for the interest in our institution.

Lay down of the Foundation stone of Rampurhat Govt. Medical College was done on 22^nd May 2017 by Hon'ble Chief Minister and Health Minister of West Bengal, Smt. Mamata Banerjee.

The journey of our college — with admission of undergraduate students — started on 1^st August 2018, after approval of the Medical Council of India. Over the last few years, our institute has shown steady progress and is now considered one of the highly acclaimed medical colleges in West Bengal. We are affiliated with The West Bengal University of Health Sciences for running the MBBS course for 100 students per academic year. Paramedical technical courses — DMLT, DRD, DOPT, DDCT, DOT — under the State Medical Faculty West Bengal, have been started in this institute. Of late, we have also received affiliation for starting the Post-Graduate DNB Course in Broad Specialities (Gynae & Obstetrics, Medicine, Anaesthesiology & Respiratory Medicine). Both the MBBS and DNB courses are duly permitted by the National Medical Commission and NatBoard, Govt. of India. We aspire to provide more courses in versatile streams of Medical Education under one roof in the near future.

Being located in a strategic position, we cater to the medical needs of a large pool of patients who seek care at our hospital. This includes a huge population residing in the District of Birbhum and its surrounding districts — Murshidabad, Paschim Bardhaman, Purba Bardhaman — and neighbouring states like Jharkhand and Bihar.

We at Rampurhat Government Medical College are committed to provide excellent education in the field of Modern Medicine and high-quality patient care services.

Our motto is to establish a centre of excellence in medical education, training, health care and research — imbued with scientific culture, compassion for the sick, and commitment to serve the under-served.

In the last few years there has been considerable and speedy development in regard to infrastructure. The well-designed G+6 Academic Building — with its spacious modernized lecture theatres, demonstration rooms, diagnostic and training laboratories, research labs, skills lab, central library, conference hall, and MEU hall — is highly equipped with all modern facilities and the latest technology, in keeping with current NMC standards. The modular OT in the super-speciality building has been established in this peripheral new Medical College by the Government's Department of Health & Family Welfare. The Blood Collection Centre (BCC), OPD, Emergency and IPD Buildings, and Dialysis unit are well furnished and well equipped. A Component Separation unit at the BCC has been initiated in this hospital. Most of the older buildings are under renovation.

A dedicated LMO Oxygen plant has been established — a great initiative from the Government of West Bengal during the COVID-19 pandemic. Many other new infrastructural projects are in the process of approval from the Department of Health and Family Welfare. Well-equipped hospital laboratories, high-tech state-of-the-art investigative facilities and ICU set-up at the hospital campus provide the needed high-quality health care to the patients while helping the students in their teaching and training activities.

We aspire to provide an environment for our students to develop objective minds, sensitive hearts, social awareness and a deep respect for human well-being. It is our constant endeavour to instil in our students the qualities of self-discipline, commitment, and integrity so they build successful professional lives for themselves. This education occurs in an ethical and professional environment while ensuring that high standards of medical care are provided to our patients. The consistent academic excellence of the students through the training imparted is reflected every year in the University Results. Our students are also encouraged to take part in various co-curricular activities as well as sporting events.

The stronghold of our institution is the highly competent and dedicated teaching faculty who strive hard to implement our vision and mission. Their academic achievements, research accomplishments, and consistent yearning to keep themselves up to date is what makes the journey of learning for our students more fruitful and enjoyable.

Currently our nation is in the midst of a high tide of concern and effort for sharing responsibility to improve the standards of medical education. Refreshing initiatives are being undertaken by the NMC through curricular reforms in the form of implementation of competency-based medical education. In this context, I am very happy and satisfied regarding the continued and passionate aspiration by the Medical Education Unit of our institute in duly implementing the CBME curriculum. The effort, activities and achievements of the MEU of our institute towards updating and upgrading the quality of health-profession education have been satisfying.

As Principal of the Institute, I am proud to lead our institution's commitment to provide medical teaching and health care of the highest standard through excellence in medical education, biomedical research and patient care.
