Eight years of building healthcare excellence in Birbhum

  • 2018
    College Established — First MBBS Batch

    Rampurhat Government Medical College & Hospital established by the Government of West Bengal. First MBBS batch of 100 seats admitted. Affiliated to WBUHS; NMC recognition granted.

  • 2019
    Hospital Operationalised — OPD Services Commenced

    Hospital wing made fully functional. Outpatient services commenced across all major clinical departments, including General Medicine, Surgery, Obstetrics & Gynaecology, and Paediatrics.

  • 2020
    Seat Intake Increased to 150 · COVID-19 Dedicated Ward

    MBBS intake increased from 100 to 150 seats following NMC inspection and enhanced infrastructure. A dedicated COVID-19 ward established in response to the pandemic, serving Birbhum district.

  • 2021
    ICU & NICU Operationalised · Blood Bank Licensed

    Intensive Care Unit (ICU) and Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) made operational, significantly enhancing critical care capacity. Blood bank licensed by the State Drug Authority, West Bengal.

  • 2022
    B.Sc Nursing Programme Commenced

    B.Sc Nursing programme launched with INC and WBNC approval. Admissions under WBUHS for the inaugural batch. Paramedical diploma programmes also expanded.

  • 2023
    Central Library Inaugurated · Research Cell Established

    State-of-the-art central library inaugurated with over 5,000 textbooks, journals, and digital access to medical databases. Institutional Research Cell established to promote faculty and student research.

  • 2024
    PG Programmes (MD/MS) — Application Submitted to NMC

    Application for MD/MS postgraduate programmes submitted to the National Medical Commission. Inspection by NMC awaited. NMC recognition for MBBS renewed for 2024 cycle.

  • 2025
    NIRF Participation · Faculty Strength Reaches 100+

    RPHGMCH participates in the National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF) for the first time. Total faculty strength (teaching + clinical) exceeds 100. Central Oxygen Pipeline upgraded to cover all wards.

  • 2026
    Infrastructure Expansion — New OPD Block Under Construction

    New OPD block under construction to accommodate growing patient footfall. 10-bed Dialysis Unit operationalised. Renovation of Casualty & Trauma Care Unit tendered. NIRF 2026 data submitted.
